It was all "First Day of School" vibes as Bassett Unified reopened to students today. New backpacks and haircuts accompanied new health screening measures and mask wearing as parents walked students to drop-off points across campuses. While smiles were hid behind masks, you could see the sparkle in students eyes as they stepped onto campus for the first time since March 13, 2020.
Teachers greeted their students at gates and escorted them to their new classrooms. These classrooms were quite different than students remembered, having desk shields and 6 ft spacing between desks, but the vibe in the classroom was one of anxious excitement to get back to learning in person.
Students and teachers started the morning with going over classroom routines and new policies meant to keep us all safe as we return to school. Looking at the students, parents, teachers, and staff, one thing was certain; everyone is excited to get back to school!
